What is self-service check in?

Self service check in is a fast and convenient way to check in your flights.

On the day of departure, you can:

Check in for your flight, and up to 9 guests travelling with you.

Complete your personal details required by local Customs and Immigration Authorities.

Select your seat on the plane

Print your boarding pass.

Complete your personal details required by local Customs and Immigration Authorities.

Any Guest with a confirmed booking

You can check-in online for Etihad Airways flights, this includes Etihad Airways connecting flights.

The following categories of guests have to check in at the airport:

Unaccompanied minors

Guests with an extra seat

Passengers with a cabin baggage

Guests on a stretcher

Identification

How to identify?

To identify, you need to enter these different pieces of information:

Last Name as it is written on the booking confirmation

Board point: The airport name where you take the first plane of your journey

A form of identification: You booking can be retrieve by different means:

Record locator: A 6 letters and digits code (e.g. Y2KP3D)

ticket number: A 14 digits number

Credit card and debit card: The number of the credit or debit card that has been used to book the journey. The number is just for identification purpose and will not be stored nor used to withdraw money.

Guest Programme number: The Guest Programme number of one of the guests of the booking

The identification will succeed only if the form of identification is present on the booking. The record locator and the ticket number are always present on the booking.

What is "I want to check in other guests" used for?

If you are traveling with friends or family, by ticking this box, you can check in together even if you are on different bookings

Why my Guest Programme does not appear on the list?

Only airline and airline partners frequent flyer cards can be used on the airline. If your frequent flyer program does not appear on the list, you must use another mean of identification to retrieve your booking.

What is booking selection?

You may have more than one booking retrieved. In this case, you have to select the booking you want to check in. If you have only one booking, you will not see this screen.

Guest selection

Why some guests cannot be selected?

Some guests may already be checked-in or these guests request extra-services only available at the airport. These guests are displayed for information purpose but no modification can be made for these guests.

If you have some request regarding these guests, please call the customer service or contact an agent at the airport.

What is "Add Another Guest" functionality?

If you are traveling with other people that are on the same or another booking, you can add them in order to check in and seated together. These guests must have the same journey and the same class than you to be accepted on the check in process.

Why my Guest Programme does not appear?

The Guest Programme is displayed if it has been found on the booking. If you cannot see it, it means that the Guest Programme is not on the booking. You can add it by clicking on the "add Guest Programme" button

Why I can't select some flights?

Some flights are on different airlines and cannot be checked-in online. You need to go to the airport to check in these flights.

Why is it written "free seating" instead of my seat number?

In domestic flights, you can seat wherever you want on the plane on a first boarded, first served basis. Consequently, you cannot select your seat for these flights.

Personal data update

Why do I have to provide my personal data?

On international flights, some countries customs require pieces of data about guests to allow them to enter the country. Only for these flights, we request the data to be entered before allowing you to board the plane. You can use the Self-service check in to enter the data. If you don't have the data, you will still be checked-in but you will have to provide the data at the airport in order to collect your boarding pass(es).

Etihad Airways will not use the data provided for any other purpose than to fulfill Customs.Immigration requirements. Your data will not be stored or used once the Custom/Immigration process is completed.

Why can't I print some boarding passes?

Some Customs/Immigration requirements may forbid us to allow to print boarding passes. You are still checked-in, and can collect your boarding pass at the Airport.

Seat change

How can I select a seat?

To select a seat, you have to select a guest on the left column and then select an available seat on the seat map. You can do that for all the guests of the party and then confirm the new seat or cancel the seat change and return to the confirmation page with the seat where you were previously seating.

Why my seat change as not been validated?

It may happen that while you were selecting your seat, another guest requested the seats you selected. In this case, other seats have been given to you and you can go back to the seat map to request other seats.

Another reason is that you swapped seats between the different guests of the group. You should instead keep your seats and change them when you are on the plane.

Guest Programme update

Why my Guest Programme does not appear on the list?

Only airline and airline partners Guest Programme cards can be used on the flight. If your Guest Programme does not appear on the list, you cannot apply for miles on this flight.
